Wi-Fi Zone

Wi-Fi access is an additional attraction to encourage public transit use because it allows riders to be entertained, get information or even work during their trip. This is an added value for anyone choosing to take the bus by making their travel experience better.

Responsibilities of the Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO)

• Although the STO shall take all reasonable means at its disposal to ensure free Wi-Fi access, the service is nonetheless provided on an "as is" basis, without guarantee. The STO shall in no way be held responsible for any consequences related to an unforeseen interruption of the service.
• In order to protect the privacy of users, no personal information will be disclosed, published, transmitted or sold to third parties, unless a search warrant or court order forces us to do so.
• The only information that will be archived without your explicit permission, and for statistical purposes only, is the following: MAC address of the device used for connection, length, sites visited and the amount of data transmitted during each connection.
• The content or destination of your data traffic will not be archived. Exceptionally, the nature of the traffic may be analysed in order to locate a technical problem.
• Under no circumstances shall the STO be held liable for damages that could result from access to or use of Wi-Fi service, including any corrupted files or viruses that could infect your computer equipment or any other property.
• Technical failures preventing Wi-Fi access will under no circumstances confer the right to any compensation.

Rights of the STO

To ensure service of the best possible quality and the long-term sustainability of the project, the STO reserves the right to:

• Block or limit access to certain ports or Web sites, including those of an illicit or pornographic nature.
• Set a bandwidth limit.
• Block Wi-Fi access to those who have not complied with the responsibilities stated above or who have attempted to circumvent the control mechanisms through the use of multiple accounts or any other means.
• Block outgoing SMTP connections.

 Responsibilities of Users

• A mobile device with a wireless card is required to use the service.
• The service is offered for mobile and temporary use. Regular or intensive use of the service from a residence or work place constitutes abusive use. 
• It is prohibited to use the service for unlawful activities. Users assume full responsibility of such use and agree to compensate the Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) for any damages that such use may incur.
• It is strictly prohibited to visit Web sites that contain pornographic material or that incite racial hatred, crimes or offences.
• It is prohibited to transmit over the Internet any data that are prohibited, illicit, illegal, contrary to good conduct or public order, or liable to infringe upon the rights of third parties, in particular intellectual property, literary or artistic rights.
• It is prohibited to engage in illegal downloading, or to make copies of software, CDs or DVDs that are copyrighted or contain copyrighted material.
• It is prohibited to engage in fraudulent, abusive or excessive use of the service, especially such as the intentional or unintentional blockage of e-mail servers and/or e-mail inboxes by unsolicited commercial mail (spamming, bunk e-mail, junk e-mail or mail bombing), or of its network, or the dissemination of teasing or trolling messages that generate an excessive number of responses and are therefore likely to disrupt the availability of the service.
• Users are liable for any damages, whether direct or indirect, material or immaterial, caused to third parties as a result of users' use of the service.
• It is prohibited to circumvent the bandwidth usage control mechanisms by any means.
• The wireless connection provided is not encrypted. It is up to users to use secure protocols if they wish to protect their passwords and other confidential information.
• It is essential to respect other users and staff at the premises where the service is offered.
• It is prohibited to relay or share, by any means whatsoever, the bandwidth provided.

1. Turn on the Wi-Fi on your laptop or mobile device.
2. Select "STO_Usagers" from the list of Wi-Fi networks available.
3. Open your Internet browser, you will be directed automatically to the network's welcome page.
4. You must accept the usage policy before you can browse the Internet.

If your device has a secure welcome page, we invite you to use http://www.sto.ca to access the  acceptance page. The screen will be displayed and you can then continue.

A: Check that the Wi-Fi feature on your device is turned on and that the "STO_Usagers" Wi Fi network is displayed on the list of networks available.

A: No, there is no access code required to connect.

A: The connection is available at all the Rapibus stations.

A: All users share the same connection. The speed can therefore be affected by the number of users who are connected at the same time and their use of the service.

A: As set out in the Terms and Conditions of Use for the STO's wireless network, access has been blocked to certain ports or Web sites, including those of an illicit or pornographic nature.
