Special routes for high schools

Each year, agreements are made between the STO and academic institutions to provide specific services for students who are eligible for this transportation service. It is up to each academic institution to indicate which students are eligible and to give them a Multi that is valid on school days only.

This special Multi card is valid on school days until 5 p.m.

ZAP monthly pass

The ZAP and ZAP+ monthly pass on personalized Multi card is available exclusively for full-time students aged 12 to 16 who are registered at a secondary school in Quebec.


Travel by bus all year round!

In addition to benefiting from a very advantageous rate, make an additional saving by purchasing, between September 1 and 30, your ZAP for the whole school year (valid from September to June). It is an ideal complement for secondary school students who are eligible to the special routes transportation serviceIntegrated school routesIntegrated school routes, which is valid on class days, only until 5 p.m.


La ZAP permet aux étudiants de se déplacer de façon illimitée en dehors des heures de classe.

The ZAP monthly pass allows unlimited travel for students, outside school hours.

    During the school year, ZAP is valid:

    • Weeknights after 5 p.m.;
    • Every weekend;
    • All statutory holidays;
    • All Professional Activity Days;
    • During Christmas and Spring break, from February 27 to March 7.


    Travel by bus all summer long!

    The ZAP+ monthly pass gives students unlimited travel AT ALL TIMES in July and August. This monthly pass is on sale starting June 15.

    Validity on OC Transpo

    Accepted : You can easily travel, without any supplement, on the OC Transpo system (bus and O-Train) with your ZAP and ZAP+ monthly pass on personalized Multi card.  

     

    Validity on Transcollines

    Not accepted.


    How to get it?

    • To get your ZAP and ZAP+ monthly pass, go to one of the STO Service Points with your student card;
    • If you are a student attending a Commission scolaire des Portages de l'Outaouais high school and that you are eligible to the special routes transportation service, some schools will allow you to obtain your ZAP when you register.

     

    How do I recharge my ZAP and ZAP+ monthly pass on my Multi card?

    The Student monthly pass on personalized Multi card offers unlimited travel for the entire month (from the first to the last day of the month).

     

    Validity on OC Transpo

    Accepted : You can easily travel, without any supplement, on the OC Transpo system (bus and O-Train) with your Student monthly pass on personalized Multi card.  

     

    Validity on Transcollines

    Not accepted.


    How to get it?

    To get your first personalized Multi card for free, go to one of the STO Service Points. Your Student monthly pass will then be loaded on it.

    The following supporting documents are required to obtain a personalized Multi card :

    • Proof of age;
    • ID card with photo (Quebec health insurance or driver's licence);
    • Proof of full-time registration or a course schedule at a academic institution recognized by Quebec's Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport.


    How do I recharge my Student monthly pass on my Multi card?

    You can recharge at all times :


    E-Wallet

    The E-wallet on personalized Multi card is an amount loaded on your Multi card. You can then pay your occasional trips by means of an e-fare. You can put from $10 to $110 in your e-wallet.

    When you pass your Multi card in front of the reader when boarding the bus, the reader:

    • Confirms that your trip is valid;
    • Debits the fare from your e-wallet;
    • Displays the balance available on your e-wallet;
    • A fare debited from your e-wallet entitles you to an e-transfer that is valid for 2 hours starting from when you first boarded an STO bus. Simply pass your card in front of the reader again during the validity period and the transfer will be accepted.


    Validity on OC Transpo

    Accepted, conditionnaly : with your e-wallet, you can travel on the OC Transpo system ONLY after validating your Multi Card on an STO bus, which entitles you to an e-transfer that is valid for two hours.

    IMPORTANT: The e-wallet is not accepted for starting a trip on the OC Transpo system. You must pay the fare for the trip at the O-Train ticket machines, pay cash on the bus, or use the e-Purse on the Presto card.


    Validity on Transcollines

    Not accepted.

    To get your first personalized Multi card for free, go to one of the STO's Service Points. Your e-wallet will then be loaded on it.

    Paper Ticket

    The paper ticket allows you to take occasional or spontaneous trips. When fares change, tickets in circulation are accepted as long as riders pay the cash supplement to make up the difference between the old and new fare.

    If you need to take more than one bus with the STO, or travel with OC Transpo or Transcollines to reach your destination, ask the driver for a transfer when you first board the bus.
     

    Validity on OC Transpo

    Not accepted : The papier ticket is not accepted on Oc Transpo (bus and O-Train).

    Validity on Transcollines

    Not accepted.

    How to get it?

    Tickets are sold in booklets of 6 tickets at STO Service Points, at points of sale and at Ticket retail outlets.

    To accommodate their customers, some retail outlets have taken the initiative to sell single bus tickets. However, this type of service cannot be expected from all authorized ticket outlets.


    Cash

    The exact fare in change is required. Pennies and bank notes are not accepted.

    If you need to take more than one bus with the STO, or travel with OC Transpo or Transcollines to reach your destination, ask the driver for a transfer when you first board the bus.
