Privacy policy

Because public transit patrons may be concerned about the privacy of their information, the STO has developed a privacy policy governing personal information that covers the activities related to the Web site at www.sto.ca.

Personal information gathered through the Web site will not be sold, exchanged or transmitted to third parties. Statistics are occasionally compiled for information purposes only, such as to determine the number of visitors to the site or the most popular pages, but under no circumstances do they disclose any basic personal information.

The STO uses personal information that is submitted only on a voluntary basis, such as in the case of contests.

Contests

For contests, the names of the winners are announced using a variety of communication methods. Nevertheless, whenever photographs or images are used, permission from the main winners is always requested in advance and they are asked to sign a release form authorizing the use of any photographs or images for advertising purposes.

Comments from our clientele

For comments about our services, any personal information is used only to follow up with the sender or to complete a report of the circumstances surrounding a situation for an internal investigation. The STO makes every effort to ensure the privacy of the parties involved. Consequently, users who submit comments do not need to worry about their privacy because the STO is committed to ensure that personal information is protected.

Surveys

The STO reserves the right to contact some patrons, such as when conducting surveys, but in all cases, the information must be provided voluntarily and/or knowingly.

E-newsletter

The databases are strictly confidential. Personal information allows the e-newsletter to be addressed and sent to users after they have accepted to receive it by subscribing to the enewsletter using the form available at www.sto.ca.
