Extension of the Reserved Lane on Alexandre-Taché

As work to extend the lane reserved for public transit goes ahead, the widening of Alexandre-Taché will start on July 18 and take about four months to complete in order to reconstruct the sidewalks and existing pavement between Viger and the Rapibus corridor access at Taché-UQO station.

Reduced lanes will be marked to ensure that traffic runs in both directions at all times. Temporary signage will also be installed to inform motorists of the restrictions and detours during this time. The work will be done on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

The STO will do everything it can to minimize the inconvenience caused by the work to install this preferential measure. However, traffic slowdowns during peak periods should be expected. STO bus routes will not be affected. Flag persons will also be on site as needed. The project is being completed in collaboration with the City of Gatineau in order to make public transit more efficient and appealing. Find out more at sto.ca.

Following a public call for tenders, the Board of Directors of the Société de transport de l'Outaouais awarded the contract to Eurovia Québec. This project will cost $1.2 million thanks to a subsidy from Quebec's Ministry of Transport, Sustainable Mobility and Transport Electrification. The work involves adding another 280 metres to the east of the existing reserved lane, which currently ends in front of the Université du Québec en Outaouais.
