Bus stop upgrades

To make your daily transit trips better informed and more comfortable, new variable message signs (VMSs) and new bus shelters are being installed on many STO routes.

100 new variable message signs (VMSs)

100 new VMSs will be added to the existing 23 signs that currently show the next bus arrival in both real and scheduled time at Rapibus stations and the busiest stops.

Real-time notification on our information displays is based on our operational support and rider information system (SAEIV).

Twenty new digital LED models will replace the information panels at the Labrosse, De la Cité and De la Gappe stations with full-colour display. The old models will be reassigned to other locations on the transit system.

In addition, 80 new solar-powered VMSs will be installed at the busiest stops. These feature a button for audio announcements – a great innovation for the visually impaired!

Adding and replacing bus shelters

We are continually replacing bus shelters that have reached the end of their useful lives. This year, 23 stops will have bus shelters added or replaced. Installation of the new replacement shelters will be completed in the next few weeks.
