Public consultation results – Rapport de consultation publique – Prolongement du Rapibus jusqu'au boulevard de l'Aéroport

An initial consultation was conducted this past December as part of the opportunity study for the Rapibus extension to boulevard de l'Aéroport.

The purpose of the study is to identify and analyze the needs and constraints of this additional portion and demonstrate its pertinence. Several aspects are being looked at, including current and future transportation needs.

The objective is to identify the citizen issues and concerns that will be considered while solutions are being developed.

A total of 562 respondents filled out the online questionnaire.

The highlights of this first public consultation are as follows:

  • 80% of respondents indicated that they were highly in favour of the project, and 11% that they were quite favourable;
  • Of the three corridors, the Rapibus extension along the existing railway axis received 85% favourable or highly favourable support;
  • Of the five proposed locations for the future Rapibus stations, the two preferred ones were at the intersection of avenue du Cheval-Blanc and boulevard Saint-René Est (77%), and at the juncture of boulevard de l'Aéroport and rue Atmec (75%);
  • The respondents indicated a strong interest in having new park-and-rides on boulevard de l'Aéroport (77%) and at the intersection of the autoroute 50 exit and chemin Industriel (68%). The Cheval-Blanc Parc-n-ride expansion receives a 67% approval rate ;
  • The Rapibus extension to boulevard de l'Aéroport received 89% quite or highly favourable support.

A second public consultation is being prepared for this project.
