Summary of the consultation – Service changes in the Hôpital de Gatineau neighbourhood

The expansion of Hôpital de Gatineau and the addition of a faculty of medicine and a university family health group will mean more traffic in and around this zone.
Thus, a review was launched to improve service to the hospital and the other nearby health services.

From February 10 to March 1, 2020, the STO conducted a public consultation that gave residents the chance to indicate their impressions and comments about a proposal affecting routes 62, 65 and 76 that would come into effect in the fall of 2020. A total of 314 people filled out the online survey.

In general, the changes proposed for the different routes received more positive than negative feedback. In particular, certain frequency increases and service within the hospital grounds were very favourably received.

The comments made by approximately 100 respondents included criticisms about the longer travel times on certain routes, as well as requests for more service on weekends and more frequent and expanded service, both during and outside of peak periods.

The comments received were used to entertain changes to the service proposal. The follow-up on comments table includes the STO's responses.

Service improvements in the current context

Given the decrease in ridership and the budget issues related to COVID-19, it will not be possible to introduce certain service increases in the fall of 2020. Additional trips on route 68 aimed at increasing frequency and improving the link between the two Cégep de l'Outaouais campuses will follow later.
