Celebrate Canada Day with the STO!

Published : 06-28-2012

The Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) is proud to offer to the population a shuttle service to get to the festivities taking place on Canada Day, July 1.

Several activities will be held at Jacques Cartier Park and at Major's Hill Park in Ottawa for this important event. To make it easier for the public to get around on this day, a bus service will run from 10 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. from Robert-Guertin Centre to the festivities taking place at Jacques Cartier Park in the Hull sector.

A fare of $ 3, 00 will apply to the trip to the festivities, while the trip back on the shuttle after the show will be free. Smart cards, bus tickets and transfers will also be accepted as payment. Children aged under 11 will be allowed to ride for free. Festival-goers will also be able to take advantage of the free shuttle service offered in co-operation with OC Transpo. This service will run between Jacques Cartier Park in Gatineau and Major's Hill Park in Ottawa. The shuttle will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Free service after 10 p.m.

The bus routes to Ottawa will detour due to the road closures on Canada Day. Buses will stop at Jacques Cartier Park and will have their terminus at the Supreme Court of Canada on Wellington in Ottawa. Regular fares will apply all day long. Festival-goers will be able to return for free on STO buses at the end of the evening after 10 p.m., and return trips will leave from the Supreme Court of Canada and Jacques Cartier Park.

The STO will also appoint low floor buses to facilitate the boarding and disembarkation of riders with reduced mobility. The shuttle which runs between Jacques Cartier Park in Gatineau and Major's Hill Park in Ottawa will be accessible for riders with wheelchairs and those who have reduced mobility.

Holiday service

Please note that a modified Sunday service will be in effect all day throughout the network on July 1st.
