This Earth Day, the STO Shows Its Solidarity in an Unprecedented Campaign with Centraide Outaouais

Un don pour la mobilité, un don de liberté.

As part of Earth Day, the Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) is partnering with Centraide Outaouais to launch an unprecedented new campaign inviting everyone to show their solidarity by making a donation that promotes mobility for all.

"Besides basic needs such as food and clothing, people must be able to get around easily. So to some extent, public transit plays a pivotal role in breaking down isolation and meeting fundamental needs," stated STO Chairman Patrice Martin.

With this in mind, the STO is inviting everyone to give generously so that someone in financial need can have access to public transit. The donations collected for Centraide Outaouais will go towards purchasing transit passes at preferential fares that will then be redistributed to recipient community organizations. The STO's advertising budget for Earth Day will also be allocated to promoting this new campaign.

Public transit is an agent that promotes social inclusion. The human and social dimensions, which complement the environmental aspect, are an integral part of sustainable development. The STO reminds us that taking the bus is making a gesture to support the Earth by reducing our ecological footprint.

"At Centraide Outaouais, we are very pleased to join the STO for this mobilizing project. It is a partnership linked directly to our mission to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable among us. It will allow us to meet a need among people and families who use the services of community organizations. As the theme of this campaign so clearly states, a gift to Centraide Outaouais is a gift for mobility, a gift of liberty for those in need," said Executive Director Nathalie Lepage.
