The Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) is launching two text messaging (SMS) services today and unveiling a brand new mobile site at m.sto.ca. These mobile solutions supplement the range of information tools already available and further enhance the customer experience by making it easy for riders to get information while they are travelling.

With the new bilingual mobile site, riders who have smart devices or traditional cell phones can check timetables, view bus routes, get the latest news or learn more about fares. Moreover, the Infobus service is now available via SMS. Riders can simply text an Infobus number to instantly find out the real time when the next two buses will be passing the stop.

Added to this is the possibility of subscribing to the personalized System-Info alerts service. These alerts keep riders up to date on occasional changes to the system that affect the particular routes they use. So far available only by e-mail, these alerts are now also sent by SMS.

"These information tools illustrate the Société's desire to cater to its patrons by proposing a variety of information sources that are easy to consult, and are available in real time," stated STO Chairman Patrice Martin. "Text messaging and the mobile site allow us to respond to the needs and expectations of riders by sharing information in a user-friendly, practical way," he added.
